Sizing Guide

At Boo Boo’s, we understand that buying clothes online can be a challenging and daunting task, since you have to buy before you try. Generally speaking, we humans are all unique, in that we come in different body shapes, proportions and heights. So, it is impossible to create an accurate generic sizing chart to suit everyone. On top of that, our clothes come in a variety of styles, fabrics, patterns and fits from manufacturers in Australia and overseas. With no standardised Australian sizing guide to adhere to, our clothes can end up varying in their measurements.Β  Remember, you can always exchange. Please see our returns policy for more information.

Dresses, Tops, Pants and Skirts

Our clothes usually come in sizes 8 – 20 for dresses and sizes 8 – 18 for tops, pants and skirts. From our decades of experience, we have come to understand our clothes and how they fit our customers. Generally speaking, if a customer is normally a size 12, and...

      • There's no sizing information given on the item, the customer is likely to fit into a size 12
      • The clothing has a "generous fit", they are likely to fit into a size 10
      • The item has a "very generous fit", they are likely to fit into a size 8
      • The clothing has "tight fit", they are likely to fit into a size 14

If our clothes do have sizing measurements, it will be written on each item’s page. The measurements will be the size of the garment at the bust, waist, hips and length when the garment is laying flat on a table.

How to measure to find your size?

How to measure your measurements

A – Bust

Remove your top and stand up straight but try to relax your upper body. Some women find it more accurate to be wearing a bra for measuring, and others find not wearing one is more accurate.

Measure at the fullest part of your bust. Keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor and keep the tape loose – about 1 – 2 fingers should be easily able to fit under the tape.

B – Waist

Remove or lift your top, stand up straight and in a relaxed, normal position.

Find your waist. It is usually somewhere between your the belly button to 2.5cm (1 inch) above the belly button. If you place your thumb at the base of your ribcage and pinkie finger on your hips, you should be able to see in a mirror and feel where the smallest part of your torso is. This is your waist.

Measure at the smallest part of your torso. Keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor and keep the tape loose – allow for room to breathe.

C – Hip

Stand in front of a full length mirror in your underwear. The mirror will help to make sure the tape is sitting right and does not twist. Place your feet together, with your toes facing forward.

Measure at the widest, fullest part of your hips and rear. Typically this is midway between your crotch and your belly button. Keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor and do not pull the tape too tightly.

D – Dress Length

To determine if you would like the dress’ length once it is on you, measure from your shoulder down.

Dress length can be described at micro, mini, midi and maxi. Although, your proportions will ultimately determine the final length of the outfit.

      • Micro or Mini - the clothing ends in the upper to mid thigh area
      • Midi - the item ends at knee to mid calf area
      • Maxi - the clothing ends at your ankles or hits the floor

E – Inseam

If you have someone to help you:

Stand up tall, with your back against a wall. Have your helper measure from the top inseam point to the heel. If you wear heels, you will need to add 1.25cm – 2.5cm to your measurement.

If you do not have someone to help you:

In your closet, find a pair of pants that you love the fit of. Lay the pants on a flat, hard surface, like a countertop, table or floor. Make sure the pants are laying flat and measure the inseam – from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

Remember:

      • Measure twice to ensure you have an accurate measurement
      • Always buy the larger size, if your measurements are within two sizes
      • To add 1.25cm (Β½ inch) to your measurements for fabrics that have the potential to shrink. Washing as per care instructions can minimise this possibility.

Shoes

All shoes are in European sizes, come in sizes 37 – 42, and are true to their size.

Australian Size European Size Foot Length (cm)
6 37 23.0
7 38 23.8
8 39 24.6
9 40 25.4
10 41 26.2
11 42 27.1

How to measure to find your size?

Foot Length

Foot length is best measured when you are standing barefoot, with your weight evenly distributed on both feet, and in the afternoon, when your feet are at their largest. Put paper under your feet and have your someone else trace an outline around both your feet. With your feet outlines, measure the length from that back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe for both feet. Chances are you have one foot bigger than the other, so choose a size that fits your larger foot.

Please note:

      • If you cannot do the measuring in the afternoon, you will need to add 1cm – 1.5cms to your length to account for the swelling that naturally occurs throughout the day.
      • If you cannot find someone to help you, you could try doing the outline yourself if you are flexible enough and don't get dizzy easily. Otherwise you could try painting the soles of your feet with something that is easy for you to clean up, doesn't permanently stain your surroundings or feet, and not too runny that the paper will soak it all up. Alternatively, you could measure a pair of comfortable flat shoes you own - try to measure where your feet sit in the shoe and not the shoe itself.
      • Thick socks or tights can potentially increase the size you need, so you may want to order a Β½ a shoe size larger.
      • If you have wide width feet, you may benefit from ordering a Β½ size larger to compensate for the width of your feet.
