Sizing Guide
At Boo Boo’s, we understand that buying clothes online can be a challenging and daunting task, since you are buying before trying it on. We humans are all beautifully unique, in that we come in different body shapes, proportions and heights, which means no single sizing chart can speak for everyone. Additionally, our garments come from Australian and international manufacturers who create clothes in a variety of styles, fabrics, and fits. (For example, one of our size 24 customers comfortably wears a size 18 in certain styles — thanks to generous cuts, elastic shirring, and stretchy fabrics.) With no standardised Australian sizing guide, garment measurements can vary — even when the label says the same size.Â
Remember, you can contact us for measurements, and you can exchange - see our returns policy for details.Â

Our Clothes
Most of our clothes come in sizes 8-18, but occasionally we have size 6 or larger sizes. These are considered to be "Australian sizes" — though we know that doesn't always reflect how a garment truly fits.
After decades of fitting experience, we've come to understand how our clothes fit. So, if a customer is normally a size 12, and...
- No sizing information is listed, they'll likely to fit a size 12
- If it has a "generous fit", they'll likely to fit a size 10
- If it has a "very generous fit", they'll likely to fit a size 8
- If it has a "tight fit", they'll likely to fit a size 14
We are not always able to collect measurements for every item, as our stock moves quickly and styles change frequently. As a result, not every garment will have measurements listed. When they are available, they’ll be listed on the product page and are taken from the garment when it's laying flat on a table.
As a general rule, if you know how you fit in a label, you'll likely fit in the same size for all of their garments.
How To Measure To Find Your Size?
There are 2 simple ways to find your measurements.
- You can measure your body directly
- You can measure a garment you already own that fits perfectly.
* Just keep in mind — the stretchiness of the fabric needs to be considered when comparing measurements, as stretchy garments have smaller measurements but expand to fit once worn.

A – BUST
Measure Yourself:
Remove your top and stand up straight but try to relax your upper body. Some women find it more accurate to measure while wearing a bra and others find it more accurate to not wear one.
Measure at the fullest part of your bust. Keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor and keep the tape loose – about 1 – 2 fingers should be easily able to fit under the tape.
Measure Your Clothes:
Measure from left armpit to right armpit on your top or dress, and then multiply by 2.
* Often the most important measurement for a top, followed by hips and then length, but that depends on your proportionsÂ
B – WAIST
Measure Yourself:
Remove or lift your top, stand up straight and in a relaxed, normal position.
Find your waist. It is usually somewhere between the belly button to 2.5cm (1 inch) above the belly button. If you place your thumb at the base of your ribcage and pinkie finger on your hips, you should be able to see in a mirror and feel where the smallest part of your torso is. This is your waist.
Measure at the smallest part of your torso. Keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor and keep the tape loose – allow for room to breathe.
Measure Your Clothes:
Find the halfway between the bust and hem/hip – it can be the narrowest part of the garment but that depends on the style/design. Measure straight across and double it.
C – HIP
Measure Yourself:
Stand in front of a full length mirror in your underwear. The mirror will help to make sure the tape is sitting right and does not twist. Place your feet together, with your toes facing forward.
Measure at the widest, fullest part of your hips and rear. Typically this falls midway between the belly button and the top of the thighs. Keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor and do not pull the tape too tightly.
Measure Your Clothes:
Measure across the hem of a top or where the hips are in a dress or pants – it can be the widest part of the garment but that depends on the style/design. Measure straight across and double it.
* Often the most important measurement for pants, followed by length (waist can always be tightened), but that depends on your proportionsÂ
D – LENGTH
We describe dress length as mini, short, midi and maxi.
- Mini – ends upper to mid thigh
- Short – ends mid thigh area to just above the knee
- Midi –  ends knee to mid calfÂ
- Maxi – ends mid calf to the floor
Top and outerwear lengths at Boo Boo's are mostly designed to end at the hip. Some tops have a longer back, which will usually cover the buttocks and end high on the thighs. Occasionally we will have cropped tops or outerwear, which end at the waist.
Pant length can be described at short, capri, cropped and full length.
- Short – ends at or just above the knee
- Capri –  ends knee to mid calfÂ
- Cropped –  ends mid calf to just above the ankleÂ
- Full Length – ends at the anklesÂ
* Your proportions will ultimately determine the final length of the outfit
Measure Yourself:
For dresses, tops and outerwear, measure from your shoulder down. Start at the top of your shoulder, near the base of your neck. Run the tape down over the bust and follow the curve of your body to where you want the hem to fall (e.g. waist, hip, knee, ankle).
For pants, measure from your waist down. Start from where the waistband normally sits (i.e.your natural waist) down the front of your leg to the desired hem length.
* Avoid bending forward to look at the tape - this can shorten the measurement. If possible, ask someone to help or use a mirror.
Measure Your Clothes:
Measure the outseam – from the top of the waistband down the leg to the end of the hem/pants.Â
Remember:
- Measure twice to ensure you have an accurate measurement
- Measure garments by laying them flat on a hard surface like a table or floor — smooth out any wrinkles, but don’t stretch the fabric
- If your measurements are within two sizes, always buy the larger size
- If you wear heels, you will need to add 1.25cm – 2.5cm (½–1 inch) to the length
- If the fabrics have the potential to shrink, you will need to add 1.25cm (½ inch) to your measurements – the bust, waist and hips especially but also length if that concerns you. Washing as per care instructions (on the garment) minimises the possibility of shrinkage.
